The Greenwich Meridian or Fundamental Meridian has zero longitude. It is the line of longitude that passes through Greenwich Observatory in England. Greenwich from support takes the shape of the armillary sphere that was invented by the Greeks as early as the 3rd century B.C. as an instrument for observing the celestial vault. An armillary sculpture representing the peaks of wisdom and knowledge is placed in the Greenwich observatory.
